Whale blown up

Australian officials decided to euthanize a young whale that was determined to be terminally ill and had beached itself on a sandbar.
The method they chose has sparked debate.
After deciding that shooting the young whale may have not succeeded on the first try, causing increased suffering; they opted for an explosive solution.
Same have criticized the method as cruel or wrong, but it is the method officially sanctioned by the International Whaling Commission.

I couldn't find any video of this particular episode, but here is one showing the downside of using explosives on whales.

Teach them a lesson in terror

In the US we won't even allow kids to draw guns on paper when they are in school.
Mascots representing any sort of violence (Roman soldiers, Minutemen, etc.) cannot hold weapons.
The slightest threat can get you booted from school.
Having a gun in your vehicle, even off campus can get you expelled.

All of this is ridiculous, but in Australia, a teacher has gone all the way in the other direction by assigning a project to his/her students (no name or sex was mentioned in the article).
The project?
Plan a terrorist attack designed to cause the maximum number of casualties.
It comes as no surprise that people freaked when they found out about it and the project was immediately cancelled (Ya think?).

Don't mess with Superheroes

This close to the summer movie season is not a good time to run afoul of Superheroes.
Unfortunately for a would be thief in Australia, Spiderman (the store owner in costume) spotted him trying to steal an expensive X-Men book and called for backup.
Jedi Knights and other Superheroes blocked his exit and Spidey took his bag and him into custody.
