Not very 'stimulating' for the rest of us

Most people have an idea that the 'stimulus' money went to some people that frankly did not deserve any help.
Now we find that some of those who got stimulus checks were (and may still be) delinquent on their taxes.
According to a GAO, one company that received $100K was more than $9M behind in payroll taxes from as far back as 2001.
"The report said the tax delinquents accounted for nearly 6 percent of the 63,000 contractors and grantees examined, and it cautioned that the real number might be higher because the known tax debt does not measure such factors as income underreporting."

Stimulus fail in Chicago

In a microcosm of government waste and failure, Chicago's weatherization program has failed.
Inspections of homes repaired and/or upgraded under the program show charges for work not done and materials not used; work that was ruined by failing to repair roof leaks; and overcharging for equipment.
They should have just used the rebate model using approved contractors (which still would have failed in Chicago), or just given the money to the homeowners (they would have spent it on something, therefore stimulating the economy).

GE paid stimulus money, lets 18,000 go

Way to go Obama!
GE (parent company of NBC) received over $24M in stimulus funds and now has 18K fewer US employees.
That's $1,333 per employee lost.

$4.6M bridge for horses in Mass.

The Bluehills reservation in Randolf Massachusetts is split by the northernmost portion of the I-24.
There was a bridge across the freeway for horses and hikers, but it was unreliable and unrepairable.
The original estimate of $2M went up to $4.6M and stimulus funds are paying for it.
If you find the bridge on Google Maps, you will see the new construction and you will also see that there is NO ROAD. It is just a trail!
$4.6M for a horse bridge?

I guess they don't have a casino.

Aren't they a Sovereign Nation?

The Mohegan tribe in Connecticut just got $54M of stimulus money to help it out and to create jobs.
Most people already have a problem with these sovereign governments being allowed to operate large casinos that virtually guarantee a steady cash flow at the expense of people who fail at basic math.
The fact that these casinos are hardly hurting makes them unlikely targets for stimulus, but Chris Dodd is not running for reelection, so he doesn't care who he pisses off.
Here is how they defend the "loan":
"The stimulus money is a loan from a U.S. Department of Agriculture rural development program that is meant to help communities of less than 20,000 people that have been "unable to obtain other credit at reasonable rates and terms and are unable to finance the proposed project from their own resources.""
