Amateur Scientist scares Real Scientists

A Swedish amateur scientist wanted to split atoms in his apartment so he obtained radioactive material and set out on his personal voyage of discovery.
His experiments included a "meltdown" in his kitchen (not a nuclear meltdown).
Only after contacting the real scientists with questions were his actions noticed by authorities.
Police confiscated his materials and determined that there were no radiation hazards left in his abode.

Saab story

Swedish automobile company Saab cannot pay its workers.
Company spokesmen claim that they are not headed to bankruptcy and the company is working hard to solve it's problems.
One possible savior is Russian investor Vladimir Antonov who was, ironically, pushed out when GM rescued Saab during an earlier financial crisis.

One of the worker's unions has 'sent a letter' to the company to urge them to pay the workers.
I'm sure that will spur them to greater efforts.

AlGore strikes again

Al Gore is still touring the world and telling everyone that they absolutely have to change their ways to save the planet.
When he arrived via rental car at a conference in Gothenberg Sweden where participants were encouraged to use public transport.he left the engine running during his entire visit of more than an hour.
Local laws prohibit leaving an engine running for more than 60 seconds after parking (sheesh!).
When he left and went to Germany for another meeting, he flew on a Swedish military jet that is only supposed to be used for cabinet officials rather than use a train to save the planet.
