Al Gore is still touring the world and telling everyone that they absolutely have to change their ways to save the planet.
When he arrived via rental car at a conference in Gothenberg Sweden where participants were encouraged to use public transport.he left the engine running during his entire visit of more than an hour.
Local laws prohibit leaving an engine running for more than 60 seconds after parking (sheesh!).
When he left and went to Germany for another meeting, he flew on a Swedish military jet that is only supposed to be used for cabinet officials rather than use a train to save the planet.

Finally! Outrage over illegal politicking
Politicians and political groups are finally after campaign money and non-profits that are breaking our campaign laws.
The leftists in the White House and Congress are siccing the IRS on groups helping Republicans and criticizing Democrats
Trouble is that they were silent when it helped Democrats and are only now shouting from the rooftops because the money is flowing to the Conservatives.

Journalists give more $$ to Democrats
It is ironic that, after a recent contribution of approximately $1M by Rupert Murdoch to the Republican Governor's Association, there were calls for news outlets owned by Murdoch to make disclaimers on air to inform the audience of possible bias.
Why?
Because 88% of political contributions made by our so called "objective" journalists gave their money (an average of $880) to Democrats and none have made a point of informing the public.
This data was based only on donations where the donor's employer was actually identified, so the numbers may be significantly higher.
You can cut the hypocrisy with a knife.

Blinding hypocrisy from the Enviros
Most of us have figured out that there is a double standard when it comes to the kind of treatment a President gets from Environmental activists.
Of those still on the fence, the treatment Obama has been receiving should be the final straw.
Instead of calling him out on his horribly inept response to the ongoing tragedy, they are actually taking out full page ads thanking him for shutting down Alaskan oil exploration and lauding his efforts to make things better after the bureaucrats screwed up (Not his fault. He was busy with Health Care and Wall Street).
I wonder if they now have a fuller appreciation of what it is to be a prostitute now that they have been bought and bent over by Obama.
They can't afford to attack him for his very real failures, but if they continue to fail to stand up to him, many of the faithful will see them as traitors and support will suffer.

Jesse Jackson Tries Screwing his Peeps (again)
Jesse Jackson is (predictably) trying to gin up support for a boycott against BP.
Once again, Jesse the race baiter, Jesse the hater, Jesse the bloated tick (as one commenter so aptly put it) is getting it all wrong and probably making money off it.
If BP stations are boycotted, only the franchise owners will suffer.
If the company is truly harmed, they will not be as effective in cleaning up their mess or being safer in the future.
So what does Jesse (the defender of the hard working American "little guy") say about the people who will lose their jobs because of him?: "There's gonna be tension between sacrifice and jobs," Jackson said. "In the meantime, we cannot stand idly by and allow those workers to stand between us and the right to breathe free, the right for fish to live, the right for wildlife to live."
Somehow, I suspect if asked how he feels about the shrimpers in the gulf losing work, he will state that no one should be out of work because of the greedy oil company.

Gulf coast disaster ignored by Hollywood?
Haiti got immediate attention and charity events, Katrina (New Orleans) provoked much angst and charity events.
The Gulf oil spill, not so much.
Where are the commercials begging for help?
Where are the celebrities demanding more from our government?
Where are Sean Penn and his boat posse?
Some celebs on the B-list are trying to help: "Last week, Lenny Kravitz, Mos Def, John Legend and others took part inGulf Aid, a fundraising concert held in New Orleans, which producer Ben Jaffe says raised $350,000 for fishing families and wetlands restoration. Louisiana native and actor Ian Somerhalder, who earned moderate fame as one of the first major characters to get the boot during season one of "Lost," filmed a few PSAs for the Audubon Institute..."
Is that all?
Is that the best they can do?
I guess it is to be expected. They and the media pretty much ignored Katrina damage east of Louisiana and it appears they will do it again. .

Gays Demand Apology
I know, you have never seen that headline before, right?
Actually, this is a great "teachable moment" for those that don't see the hypocrisy of the left.
There are many examples of special interest groups having hissy-fits because a role in a movie or play is played by someone who is not the "proper" race, sex, orientation in real life to qualify (in their minds) to play the role.
I have to agree in some cases (those old movies with Caucasians trying to play the role of North America's original immigrants [Indians], or Charlie Chan being done poorly by Warner Oland.) but the very core of acting is to be something you are not while you are in character.
Now we have Gay groups complaining that Newsweek owes them an apology for claiming that gays can't play straights.
I agree with them that Gays and Straights can play each other convincingly.
First, the Newsweek article didn't say that Gays can't pull it off, they say they haven't pulled it off.
They perceive attempts they have witnessed as failures. Maybe that is prejudice based on the foreknowledge; maybe it is that the examples that stick in their minds really are failed attempts.
Secondly, Newsweek is leftist and leftists are all too often brainwashed lemmings. These particular lemmings may just believe you have to BE the pole to play the role because of the stupidity spouted by their own.
One part of the Newsweek article does make me think that they owe an apology.
They mention old Hollywood actors that played straight characters when they were closeted Gays.
What they don't acknowledge is that the public bought it hook-line-and-sinker.
They wonder if we could accept George Clooney as a leading straight man if he came out of the closet.
Isn't that an admission that their perception of ability is based on their knowledge of sexual orientation?

A Timely Reminder Of Mexico's Immigration Laws
From Sweetness and Light:
People in Arizona and around the US are having fits about Arizona's new immigration law that allows police to enforce immigration law by confirming a person's right to be in the United States only after a person is stopped for reasonable cause.
These people are either ignorant of, or care nothing for the hypocrisy of the Mexican President to demand that we treat his people with kid gloves while his people treat illegals harshly under their laws and often go farther (robbing, raping, and murdering).
For those who do not know or need a reminder, here is a summary of Mexico's immigration law.
