Oklahoma's epic fail
Oklahoma has instituted a new law banning gang recruitment.
Sounds great, doesn't it? No one wants gangs.
But Representative Mike Shelton also added an amendment that makes it illegal to recruit for "militias" that aren't "recognized or authorized by the commander-in-chief of the state's militia."
This legislation was offered up just a week after Tea Partiers spoke about "supporting a volunteer militia" in the state.
When asked if he considered the Black Panthers an "unauthorized militia", Shelton stated: "Are they going around terrorizing communities, doing drive-by shootings, using ammonium nitrate to blow up buildings?” Shelton asked. "When they start doing that, they would be considered (that).”
So, Mr. Shelton, if the Black Panthers are off the hook because they have not (to your understanding) crossed certain lines, wouldn't any other groups that have not yet crossed those line in your state?
Maybe Mike would be OK with the German National Socialist Party forming a cadre of "Brownshirts" as long as they don't do any drive-bys or bomb buildings.
