Why Obama pushed for drilling

Obama made a speech about boosting domestic oil production that seemed rather out of character for the man that did everything to stop drilling after the Gulf spill.
Those of us that know him better than the general public knew that he felt safe in making these comments because the rigs needed for drilling had already left the gulf and Alaskan waters to go where the work and money were.
They won't be back anytime soon, no matter what our politicians say or do.

But the President had another reason for feeling safe.
The Congress has to move on legislation to make things happen in a timely fashion and the Senate Democrats will never let that happen while they hold a majority.

Congressional shift results from congressional shaft

State assemblies and congress have really smacked businesses hard and businesses (and employees) that can are voting with their feet.
This has been going on long enough and in large enough numbers that it is gaining seats in congress for biz friendly states.
Now THAT is a way to get the politician's attention.
Maybe some more will put away their biz bashing clubs.
Yeah, right!

Congressional hearings put into perspective

When a comedian appears before a congressional committee concerning illegal immigration and farm workers at the invitation of the hearing's chair, we can say that the process has become a mockery.
Such was the case when Steven Colbert was invited by Zoe Lofgren (D) to expound on his "vast" knowledge of the subject after spending one whole day on a California farm.
Representative John Conyers (D) asked Mr. Colbert to leave before he began his remarks, and Colbert replied that he had an invitation and would only leave at the behest of Ms. Lofgren.

And they wonder why we don't take them seriously (except for their proclivity for tax increases and regulation).

Storm too late to save taxpayers

Washington DC is getting creamed by storms.
The "unexpected" fury and rainfall totals are wreaking havoc.
I feel sorry for the DC residents, but wish the story hit before the Congress spent another $26B of taxpayer money to save public employees from suffering the same economy as the rest of us.

Congress eats, and drinks, and you pay

There is a story breaking down what congress spends on food and drink to support their continued attempts to suck us dry of every last dime we earn.
It apparently takes a lot of calories to keep hosing the taxpayer.
And the first item makes me wonder where the ecofreaks are.
$604K for bottled water.
I know, they can't be wondering off to the water fountain in the middle of debate, but they could use bottled water and reusable (insulated) bottles to save the planet they claim to care so much for.
It looks like getting set up as a caterer to the legislators is a great gig too as almost $400K is spent there.

Congressional Black Caucus Wants To Curb Ethics Investigations

"Stung" by being the group most affected by the tougher ethics rules imposed by Queen Nancy Pelosi to create the "Most Ethical" congress and end the "Culture of Corruption", the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is trying to curb the ethics office.
Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio introduced a resolution that not only is not supported by all members of the CBC, but could not get support of senior Democrats and will likely go nowhere.
The complaint of the 19 CBC members signed on to the resolution is that the charges are too transparent and public even when the member in question is cleared.
They want stricter rules that require more proof before an investigation begins.

This from the party that believes in public investigations of Republicans when only the barest of suspicion or innuendo support the charges.

A good sign misread

The Washington Post thinks that the 32 Blacks running for Congress on the Republican ticket are doing so because Obama opened a door.
I think it is more that more Blacks are deciding that the Democrats are not the path to success.
The money line is that this many have not run on the Republican ticket since Reconstruction.
That should be a reminder of which party Lincoln belonged to and how many Republicans were lynched by Democrats in the south for trying to help freed slaves succeed in the new era of freedom.

Hey Congress! New Targets here!

Come on Congressmen and Senators!
Here are a bunch of greedy, grasping, political ideologues that have a permanent pulpit to preach from.
According to past statements from Congressional hearings, I can only assume that the extremely high salaries and benefits of these individuals have our elected representative chomping at the bit to haul these people before them to answer for their crimes against humanity.

These guys are making even more than the poor schlubs at Goldman Sachs and other financial institutions.

Just because they work in the media industry and they have historically covered the collective rear end of Liberals in Congress shouldn't stop the train of justice from rolling into town.

Civilization ends

The library of Congress is going to archive Twitter messages and Google is going to let you search through them.
This is surely a sign of the coming Apocalypse.
