Google goes three wheeling

Is it going green?
Maybe it is a response to increased fuel costs.
Nope!
Google is using large (heavy?) tricycles to provide street views of parks and paved trails.
I wonder what they will do to protect the peddlers from those that hate Google's "spying"?

Evil, Greedy, Liberal Corporation

Google slashed its tax liabilities by routing its profits through Ireland and the Netherlands over the last few years.
They avoided more than $3B in taxes by taking advantage of foreign tax havens.
Facebook and Microsoft have also used similar strategies to "do right by their investors".

Corporations and individuals have the absolute right to take advantage of legal methods of tax reduction, but I have two issues with companies like these:
1. If US taxes are too high for their tastes and they feel their shareholders deserve better, why not work to lower US corporate tax rates to make it better for ALL investors that hold stock in US companies and attract foreign corporations to the US?
2. If these particular corporations, which are run by and are the darlings of Liberals, are "not paying their fair share", aren't they just a bunch of hypocrites?

Google even tapped e-mails?

The US government has closed the investigation into Google's street view cars accessing of private information via wi-fi snooping.
The UK and US States are still looking into whether or not they will charge Google with any wrongdoing for not having consumer protections built into their company policies.
Google somehow accessed personal e-mails as well as passwords form people's wireless networks that were not sufficiently protected.

If Google were not the darling of the left, would they be treated so lightly for this intrusive behavior?

Look up! It's the Google Drone!

Just when you thought Google had gone as far as it could to invade your privacy, they find one more way to shred the envelope.
They may be buying drones!

Google links to White House would be bad news if Bush were Prez

Google's close ties to the White House are apparently at a level that not only clearly breaks ethics rules, but would be front page headline news for weeks if Bush were the president.
White House Deputy Chief Technology Officer Andrew McLaughlin is supposed to be barred from even being in his position since he is a former Google lobbyist.
Add to that his communications with current Google lobbyists and avoidance of official email channels in an apparent attempt to avoid federal record keeping regulations and you have a huge scandal (if they president was not a Democrat).

Now they are worried about Google?

Many of us became worried when we learned of Google's "street view" intrusions into private property.
More worry developed when we learned that they were surveying wi-fi spots as well.
There were a lot of folks not that concerned because Google is left leaning, therefore benevolent by default.

Then came the discovery that Google had links to Government intelligence and that "secret" meetings had been held between Google and Government folks concerning the data take from their surveillance.
Another interesting and unsettling find was that, despite Google's insistence that wi-fi spying was an inadvertent bit of code, Google sought to patent the software.
Now a group calling itself Consumer Watchdog is up in arms and wants to know who is involved, who met whom, where and when.

When they came for the wi-fi, I said nothing...
Maybe they should spy on Google.

Google pays gays and lesbians more; I see lawsuits

On the surface this sounds worse than it is, but it is still bad because it shows an obvious prejudice and preference.
Google has decided to pay (retroactively) it's gay and lesbian workers who have "partners" extra money to cover taxes on benefits that cover the partners.
They are not doing the same for heterosexual couples, claiming that they can marry if they want the tax break.
This discriminates against the straights for their "lifestyle" choice and they can sue for it.
They can also claim that marriage has been devalued by the continued attempts to allow people who insist on labeling themselves with terms that differentiate themselves from the rest of society, yet demand to share the word that has always represented a union between a man and a woman.

Google (Wireless) Street View

We all know about Google cars and vans taking 360 degree pictures of our neighborhoods and posting them on their Street View application.
We are familiar with the privacy complaints and weird results of this picture taking, but most of us are OK with the concept as long as they don't catch us in our robes, getting the morning paper or drive onto our property and take pictures.

Well, get ready for the next level of intrusion from our liberal friends at Google.
They have also been logging MAC addresses and WLANs as they trundle down the street.
This information has not yet been released in any Google application, but they have already got it.
This information may help Government, Law Enforcement, and private individuals (and Google) to cross reference your information to identify your network presence and you.

It is the height of hypocrisy that Uber-liberals like the Google founders would end up being "Big Brother" after a lifetime of complaining about him.
Even worse is the comment eerily resembling Obama's tripe concerning proposed wall street regulations: "Google CEO Eric Schmidt recently said internet users shouldn't worry about privacy unless they have something to hide."


Everyone has something to hide Eric.

The library of Congress is going to archive Twitter messages and Google is going to let you search through them.
This is surely a sign of the coming Apocalypse.
