The 'vacation' presidency

When George Bush took a "vacation" it was usually at his ranch and he always worked during his vacations (both as a rancher and as president).
President Obama is ready to take his 6th vacation so far this year.
While president Bush decided to cut golfing during the Iraq war because it was not right to appear at leisure while the troops were in grave danger (and he got nothing but crap for it from the Huffington Post).
Obama's golf games have screamed right past Bush's and he hasn't even finished his first term.
To their credit, Huff-Po also slammed Obama.
The MSM is not particularly upset at Obama for the time off he has taken even though they bashed Bush every time he was vacationing during a crisis.
While Obama's vacations are more numerous, the actual number of days 'off' aren't much more than his predecessors, but the impression the public has is that he is ignoring the crises of his term and not working hard for the people.

Golf no longer elitist?

So, if our first truly black president is an avid golfer and Tiger Woods is the king of the course does that mean the sport is no longer a sport linked to Caucasian elites?
Probably not.
It is still a stereotype that upper-crust white guys waste way too much time on the links, networking with their ilk.
George Bush tended to race through the course and even stopped playing because he thought it looked bad for him to enjoy golf outings while we were at war.
Barack Obama doesn't have that problem.
He spends more time golfing than the retired guys you get stuck behind when you find the time to visit the course and may even be slower.
His recent visit to Martha's Vineyard involved golf 3 out of the 4 days he was there.
What the heck, it isn't as if there are any emergencies like wars or oil spills to be dealing with.

Obama Golfs as Polish Leader is Buried

I know. The President can't fly to Poland as planned due to "Mother Earth" getting revenge on us for polluting, by polluting.
He really got his priorities back in line quickly and took another 'swing' at eclipsing GW Bush's golfing while Prez record.
In one year, Obama has golfed 32 times while Bush visited the links 24 times in his entire 8 years.

Maybe the press corps should remind Obama of what Bush said about golfing during "war": "I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," Mr. Bush said in a White House interview Saturday with the Politico. "I feel I owe it to the families to be as — to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

This is almost certain to be one of those stories you won't see on the dinosaur media.
