More "Stark" raving madness

I wonder what George Soros thinks of Pete Stark's latest proposal.
Pete Stark (who has consistently shown nothing but contempt for the voters) has proposed a tax on currency trades (which was how George Soros got rich).
Stark claims the tax won't even be noticed by the average person or business.
He also claims the money will be used for "the children, global health, and climate change mitigation" only.

Hey Pete!
You are a lying sack of excrement and the voters are waking up to it.
We are dying a death of a million cuts because of wastes of space like you that keep tacking on that next tax that we "won't notice".

The people don't want government media

Recently, several plans have been proposed to prop up the failing MSM.
Newspapers, the old alphabet network news and many news magazines are really hurting for ad revenue as people rely more on the new media on the internet and newly popular cable news shows like those on Fox.
When polled by Rasmussen, 55% did not even want to help save journalists' jobs and the "no" votes just go up from there.
When told of proposals to tax the very devices used to access information from the internet in order to help the old media, more than 83%.

I hope they actually listen to the people this time around.

Big Brother comes to PA

Pennsylvania has a government sponsored ad concerning tax amnesty, that shows a satellite view zooming in to street level where the voice over is telling a tax delinquent to "make this easy" by paying his back taxes before a due date.
If it weren't so scary, it would be hilarious.
I hope Barry doesn't see this.

US Citizen Renouncing

US citizens living abroad are increasingly renouncing their citizenship.
Compared to the overall numbers, those taking the renunciation route are small, but the numbers were under 300 two years ago and have risen to over 500 in 2009.
Their reasons are usually based on tax and banking issues more than straight politics.
The increase in difficulties for those living overseas for employment reasons will make doing business in other countries harder for American firms, further harming any recession recovery possibilities.
The biggest culprit blamed by the ex-patriots?
The Patriot Act, which seeks to prevent tax evasion and insure money does no flow to terrorists and, as a result, may lead to banks closing accounts for simple reasons like the inability to verify a US address for an American overseas.

Just another unintended consequence brought about by politicians voting in legislation without proper examination of the effects, then walking away while patting themselves on the back.

No Pay, No Vote

I love it!
This is one of the changes I have wished for for decades.
M Allen Fritsch at American Thinker proposes that voters can only be those that have payed Federal income taxes for the two previous years.
Of course, as stated in the article, Congress will arrange for many to pay just one dollar in order to give them a vote but heck, a dollar is more than almost half pay now!

It's not just the "undocumented" cheating on taxes

From Sweetness and Light:
In a real "Duh!" moment, CNN realizes that prison inmates are also cheating us out of our tax money.
How else are they going to get enough scratch to buy those drugs and cell phones?
They even figured out that refunds under $5000 are unlikely to be investigated.
Even better (or worse) they fill out forms for others in order to take a cut from their check.
Best of all is that some of the refunds are sent directly to the prison and no one seems to care!
