Promoting incompetence

If you haven't heard by now, the ATF ran a "sting" operation that used straw buyers to obtain firearms and use them to catch gun runners supplying Mexico with weapons.
Two of those weapons were found at the scene where criminals killed a Border Patrol Agent.
People are still steamed about it and at the administration for allowing such a poorly thought out operation that actually delivered weapons to criminals south of the border.

Now three people that ran the operation have received promotions.
From the LA Times: "The three supervisors have been given new management positions at the agency's headquarters in Washington. They are William G. McMahon, who was the ATF's deputy director of operations in the West, where the illegal trafficking program was focused, and William D. Newell and David Voth, both field supervisors who oversaw the program out of the agency's Phoenix office."

As of this morning, Obama has made no statements claiming that anyone involved acted "stupidly".

Mexicans protest (in Mexico)

Finally!
An Hispanic protest I can understand and support.
Tired of a dysfunctional government and ineffective law enforcement, Mexicans are going to protest in Mexico to actually improve their country instead of insisting that we take care of their citizens that illegally live in our country.

How many did we miss?

A radical Muslim cleric was caught in the trunk of a Mexican vehicle attempting to enter the US.
43 year old Said Jaziri has called for the death of a Danish cartoonist for mocking the prophet Mohamed and claims that Homosexuality is a disease.
He was deported from Canada in 2007 and claimed that he was mistreated on the way back to Tunisia.
It is a little confusing that the article claims he was in a car, but also states he walked across the border.
More confusing is why he would want to come to California if he is a Homophobe.
Maybe he was coming out of the closet.

So, how many Muslim Clerics made it across already?

The other side of Mexico's drug war

A couple that had just moved to Mexico found another side to the ongoing drug wars can prove deadly for the innocent.
32 year old Joseph Proctor from New York was just headed out to the market when he was gunned down by authorities.
If that was not bad enough, an assault rifle was placed in his dead hands and the official story was that he had been killed in a gunfight with the authorities.
Only after pressure from a US Congressman (who knew they could actually be useful?) was the truth uncovered and 3 Mexican soldiers charged for the attack.
To make matters worse, US officials would not release the true details of the murder (my definition) "until the soldiers are convicted".
I guess they fear a repeat of the deadly riots that followed the last murder of an American citizen by Mexican officials.
No. Wait. That never happened.
I forgot.
It is the Mexicans illegally in America that take to the streets when one of them is only allegedly abused by the police.

Sophisticated border tunnel found

The latest tunnel under the US/Mexican border is 1/2 mile long (2600ft), is lighted and ventilated and even has a rail system.
Just think what they could do with the right funding and legal rights.
We could have a tunnel that bypasses those dangerous border cities.

More violence in Mexico

Afghanistan is becoming less scary by the day as Mexico and Honduras become more violent by the day.
An American student was killed yesterday as the car he was riding in in Ciudad Juarez came under fire.
Eder Diaz was the fifth American killed in Ciudad Juarez in a week's time; all of the victims were from El Paso, TX.
Meanwhile a mass grave was discovered near Acapulco, Mexico that contained 18 bodies that are thought to be victims of Mexico's increased and ongoing drug violence.

Illegal invaders openly stump for Democrats in WA

In yet another sign of how bad things have become in our country, illegals are actually going from door to encourage people to vote for Democrats in Washington state.
Some aren't even keeping their status a secret.
How bad is it when alien invaders have the cojones to meddle in our elections in such a direct fashion?
Under Mexican law, you can (and will) be arrested for involving yourself in their elections if you are not a citizen.

We need to turn the tide before it washes us away.

Mexican Army finds 100+ tons of pot in Tijuana

Army raids on a number of houses in the border city of Tijuana netted 15 tons of marijuana destined for American distributors.
As huge as the score is, the reality is likely that this is less than a tenth of what could be found.
Tijuana is a handy staging area for goods being smuggled into the US from Mexico and any border town would yield quite a lot of drugs if there were a house-to-house search.
If the Mexican government declared a state of emergency (not a big stretch these days), they could perform search and seizure missions in the border towns where they keep the properties used for smuggling and either place their people in the homes, sell them, or destroy them as an example.

One reason for a lazy Hollywood

Hollywood writers don't have to imagine new and impossible situations in order to create new plots to capture America's attention.
Take the situation on the border with Mexico.
First we had illegals sneaking in.
Then we had illegals and drug mules.
Then the illegals were co-opted as drug mules by threats and money.
Then our government just gave up on swaths of the border by pulling out law enforcement and putting up warning signs.
Now we have enterprising bandits stealing the drugs and well equipped Cartel assassins tracking them down for execution.
We have assassins disguised as drug mules and military style observation posts directing teams to intercept bandits as well as spot any attempts by Americans to actually defend their territory.

I can see the Mexican government making the case for absorbing the territory we have essentially ceded to them.
Why shouldn't they be able to claim land we have abandoned?

Border fence gets built

A border fence is being built on Mexico's border to keep out illegal aliens!
Great news, right?
Well, only if you want to stop the illegals from Guatemala and countries to its south.
The fence is being built by Mexico to keep out the illegals they don't want.

So, Felipe Calderon can lecture us on our attempts to secure our border.
He gets help from our Snarky Marxist Prez in calling us a bunch of racist haters for trying to prevent an invasion of people that begin their stay by breaking the law and continue to break it every moment they are here.
You can cut the hypocrisy with a knife.

Nature kills more than criminals in Oaxaca Mexico

Heavy rains led to a massive landslide in Oaxaca Mexico that may have killed hundreds of people.
Government spokesmen say that there is no confirmation of damage or death as teams are still en route to the town of 9000 "indigenous" Mexicans.
It is a tragedy when a lack of government oversight allows buildings and sites that are at risk, which is likely the case here.

Terror pipeline from Tehran to Caracas

There is a regular flight from Tehran, Iran to Caracas, Venezuela via Damascus and sometimes Lebanon.
You cannot book a seat, ever.
Twice monthly, this mysterious 747 travels back and forth.
No one seems to know who and/or what the flight carries and, considering how Iran and Venezuela feel about the USA, it is something we should all be worried about.
We already have our suspicions about terror cells infiltrating the US through our porous southern border and it is no stretch to see them coming from Venezuela.
There are even suspicions that uranium may be taking the return trip from South America to aid Iran's weapons program.

Vincente Fox is insane

Ex-Mexican President Vincente Fox claims the solution to the current drug violence in Mexico is to legalize the manufacture, distribution, and sale of drugs that are illegal in countries all over the world.
He claims that removing the prohibition will remove the profit motive and funding for the cartels by dropping the prices.
Possessing personal amounts of many narcotics has been legal in Mexico for years.

Is he really that stupid?
Does he not understand that the cartels will not allow competition and that they will keep prices high by controlling the flow of product and raw materials?
Even if the drug market becomes unpalatable to them, they will increase operations in other areas, like smuggling drugs into the US and money out, arms trafficking, and terrorist control of government.

Hezbollah cell uncovered...in Tijuana

While the Obama administration sues Arizona for trying to do the job the feds refuse to do, our neighbors in Mexico have rolled up a terrorist network being set up right across the border from California.
So we have Liberal druggies (yes, conservatives too) financing the narcos, who are chummy with Hugo Chavez, who is chummy with the terrorists, who are set on infiltrating us to wreak havoc so they can dance in the streets of the middle east while our economy sinks to greater depths.
I "hope" things "change" before they succeed.

Hey! I said that!

I have been arguing for years about no one having a right to land they lost more than 50 years ago and how no one owns land that wasn't taken from someone else.
If we tried to "give back" the land we would all lose something and have to move somewhere we may never have even visited.
The whole idea of giving the Southwest to people that stole it themselves is ridiculous.
Henry Percy at American Thinker does a great job of tying it all together.

Mexican violence you won't see in the headlines

A police convoy in Mexico was attacked by gunmen who killed 10 officers and a prison riot has claimed the lives of 28 prisoners. Our press will not cover these stories with the same enthusiasm they exhibit when showing us how mean and deadly our Border Patrol agents are when threatened by dangerous criminals.

Cuba smuggling people through Mexico

American Thinker has another "where are the MSM on this?" article.
This one is about a Mexican-Cuban connection in the human smuggling business.
It is very scary to know that Cuba is working with high level Mexican officials and hardcore Mexican criminal organizations to smuggle people into the country they want destroyed for the sin of succeeding without Communism.
Even the Mexican press is talking about this, but the US press is criminally silent.

Outrage in Mexico

Two Mexicans have been killed by Border Agents lately and there is outrage in Mexico over the latest death.
I the latest death came during an alleged border incursion where Mexicans were throwing rocks at border agents and one of them shot at the perps after warnings to stop were ineffective.
The victim, a 15 year old male, was shot near the eye and his family insist that he was merely "playing" near the fence.
Not surprisingly, his family insist that he was a wonderful human being who never did wrong.
The story says he was in a "grey metal coffin" and I wondered if that meant cheap or expensive and how it was paid for.
There is supposed to be a video showing part of the incident and also showing Mexican authorities crossing into the US, retrieving an object and returning to where the body was located.
It was later reported that a .40 caliber shell casing was located on the Mexico side (hmmm, I wonder how it got there).
Frankly, I am surprised our media aren't hammering the Border Patrol with this one.
I guess it is too hard to spin it their way in today's political climate.

BTW, 17 Mexicans have been killed near the border so far this year.
Only 12 died in all of 2009.

The need for immigration control explained

I love this article for the American Thinker!
It starts out talking about the Texas school board scuffle over textbooks, but provides a great explanation of why  Texas was lost by Mexico by allowing too many Anglos to settle there and change the demographics and culture to the point where independence was the only option for Tejans tired of dealing with a government refusing to allow them to take part in the process or enjoy the basic freedoms granted to Americans.
This is too close to what the American Southwest faces today.
If too many people from one demographic are allowed to invade the southwest, history could repeat and ruin the states involved.

OMG! USA Today covers Mexico's immigration law

USA Today printed a story about "activists" complaining about Mexico's harsh anti-immigrant laws.
I am hearing more news organizations calling attention to the harsher laws and greater abuse against illegals in Mexico by Mexican nationals and authorities.
If only we could get such coverage in the NY Times!
Maybe the obliviots that paraded in the streets against the AZ law and cheered when the Mexican prez bashed the law to the applause of Liberal Congresstwits will finally figure out they were scammed (again).
