If it was you

I have to say up front that I received a speeding ticket this year and have a bad taste in my mouth over the treatment I received by the justice system of the People's Republik of Kalifornia.
Having unburdened myself, I have a question:
If you were cited for driving 26mph over the speed limit in a 30mph and hitting a child who is now paralyzed, what do you think the punishment would be?

For reference, my punishment for 19mph over a 40mph limit (with no collision or injuries, on a Sunday morning with light traffic) was an initial $70 fine that came to $340 with "assessments" (Kalifornia's way of shafting drivers while increasing revenue without a tax vote).

Well in the case of the paralyzed child it ended with a $185 fine.
A judge decided that the driver was not negligent and did not "contribute to an accident".
Are you surprised?
Maybe even shocked?
Don't be.
He was a cop.
I am always quick to defend the police against the attacks they suffer from the left, but I have always had a burr under my saddle when it comes to their lack of understanding when it comes to the way the justice system grinds common citizens down with abusive, revenue generating fines for traffic infractions that cops almost never have to deal with.
This guy deserves a whole lot more hurt for what he did.

How to make a bad review worse

I can sympathize with a hotel manager being upset at a bad review from a guest.
But when that guest was kept out of his room for "re-carpeting" and then removed by the police after supposedly posting a bad review on the internet, don't you think the follow-up review will be more damning?
Somehow, I think the real story is even more interesting than what is stated here.

New pot farm guards not up to snuff

Illegal Canadian pot farmers have been trying a new tactic to prevent theft of their crop.
They placed dog food out to convince local bears to stay in the area in order to scare off any hikers.
When police came to investigate a pot farm, they found at least 14 bears hanging out on the property.
The bears were not aggressive and the raid proceeded with caution.
According to police, the pot farmers usually employ dogs as guards and the bears probably will have to be destroyed as they are now attracted to humans for the easy food source.

Cop injured in faked fight staged to cause "Teachable Moment"

A white Indianapolis, Indiana police officer was lured to a church under false pretenses in order to see how he would respond to a staged fight between two black men.
The officer was injured during the scuffle and now the tension between the police and the community has ramped up.
Police were already on edge after multiple incidents involving people taking pot shots at the police and have responded by warning all officers that further attempts to bait them will likely occur.
Police are asking prosecutors if they can charge any of the conspirators with a crime.

No riots over this murder

Chicago police officer Thor Soderberg had just finished his shift at the police facility at 61st street and Racine Ave. when Bryant Brewer snuck up behind him and grabbed for the officer's sidearm.

In the ensuing struggle, Brewer managed to gain control of the weapon and kill the officer.

He then proceeded to cross the street and shoot another man before being shot when officers responded to the initial shot.

In Oakland, California we just had riots because an officer that killed a suspect was only found guilty of manslaughter.

There were riots (where many stores were looted) before a trail even happened in the Oakland case because the residents were "outraged" at the wanton act (despite the officer's claim that he thought he had grabbed his Taser).

So, will there be protests in Chicago over this wanton act of murder and attempted murder?

Don't hold your breath.

Stupidity after Laker win

The police have softpedaled for too long when it comes to post sports riots and they are paying the price again in LA.
Even though the Lakers won the game, revelers still had to riot and damage property.
They also threw concrete and other objects at the police (not learning from the border shooting).
As long as they do not suffer for rioting, they will continue to riot and even get worse.
Considering the mindset of illegals in this state, the rioters will likely insist that they have a "civil right" to continue.

Mexican violence you won't see in the headlines

A police convoy in Mexico was attacked by gunmen who killed 10 officers and a prison riot has claimed the lives of 28 prisoners. Our press will not cover these stories with the same enthusiasm they exhibit when showing us how mean and deadly our Border Patrol agents are when threatened by dangerous criminals.
